NanoLight have managed to create the most efficient light bulb in the world. Obviously, it’s a LED bulb that consumes only 12 W to reproduce the equivalent light of a 100 W incandescent bulb
Specifically, NanoLight bulb produces 133 lm / W (lumens / watt) while the most efficient competitor LED bulb produces only 70 lm / W (compared with an incandescent lamp that draws only 16 lm / W and a lot heat).
NanoLight managed to raise over $ 56,000 through Kickstarter site and they have also started production of the new bulbs. There is also a model equivalent to an incandescent bulb of 75 W (see image). NanoLight aims to sell the top products at a price of ~50 $. Pretty much if you think that an incandescent bulb costs under 1$, but with the consumed energy about eight times less and lifetime over 30,000 hours, 50 times longer than the “ancestor” incanescent bulb this might be a bargain.
